If you don’t have enough hotpoints to reward yourself, you’re going to love the online Points + Pay system, which makes it easier to get the merchandise or voucher rewards you want sooner.

Points + Pay is really easy to use and comes in handy when you don’t have enough hotpoints to redeem for a reward. If you’ve had your eye on a flash coffee maker or a new digital camera for example but you haven’t got enough hotpoints to snap it up, you can top up using your Westpac hotpoints credit card and hey presto, it’s all yours! You’ll just need to confirm the Westpac credit card you want to use when you pay online using Points + Pay.

Alternatively, you can use your Westpac hotpoints credit card to pay for the reward in full, so you can save your hotpoints for another reward.

To start rewarding yourself now using Points + Pay, login to hotpoints via Westpac Online Banking. You can choose any amount of hotpoints or money you want to use, and the Points + Pay system will automatically work out what hotpoints or dollar value you need to get your hands on your next reward. It’s that easy!

You’ll earn up to 10 bonus hotpoints for every dollar you spend with Points + Pay on selected merchandise rewards! That’s in addition to the hotpoints you already earn on your card. So whether you’re paying for some or all of a reward with Points + Pay, you’ll be growing your hotpoints balance even faster!

  • How does Points + Pay work?

    Points + Pay is an online payment system that lets you redeem for part or all of selected merchandise and voucher rewards using your Westpac hotpoints credit card.

    With Points + Pay, you simply choose how many hotpoints you want to redeem for selected items online, and the system will show you the amount to pay in dollars with your Westpac hotpoints credit card. Or, you can choose a dollar amount you want to pay, and Points + Pay will work out how many hotpoints you need to cover the rest. If you wish, you can also use your Westpac hotpoints credit card to pay for the reward in full, so you can save your hotpoints for another reward.

    You’ll also earn up to 10 bonus hotpoints for every dollar you spend with Points + Pay on selected merchandise, helping you earn your next reward even faster!

    When paying with your Westpac hotpoints credit card, you’ll go through a secure online payment system to make the purchase. After the transaction is made, your hotpoints balance will be updated immediately with any hotpoints you have redeemed. Your reward will then be delivered in the nominated timeframe like a normal online redemption.



  • Do I earn hotpoints on Points + Pay purchases?

    Yes, you’ll continue to earn hotpoints for every purchase you make with your Westpac hotpoints credit card at your usual hotpoints earn rate.

    If you’re buying a merchandise reward that also earns bonus points, you’ll also earn up to 10 bonus hotpoints for every dollar you spend on your Westpac credit card, in addition to the usual hotpoints you earn for every dollar you spend! Make sure you look out for the ‘Bonus hotpoints’ symbol alongside selected merchandise rewards online.



  • Why can’t I get bonus points on any reward I pay for using my Westpac hotpoints credit card?

    Bonus hotpoints are only available on selected rewards where we have been able to negotiate a great discount with our suppliers, or where the supplier has arranged for bonus hotpoints to be available.



  • Can I use Points + Pay over the phone?

    No, Points + Pay is only available for online redemptions. If you want to redeem for a product through the hotpoints Call Centre, you’ll only be able to do so using just your hotpoints.



  • Is it safe to buy rewards online through Points + Pay?

    Yes, as long as you haven’t given anyone your Westpac Online Banking details, nobody else can log in to your hotpoints account online to make these transactions. We use a secure payment system, ‘Payment Express’, to ensure that all your credit card details are safe and the purchases will work just like they do at a retail shop. You can find out more here.

    Remember to keep your credit card details safe and don’t give those details to anyone else.



  • Why do I have to enter my Westpac hotpoints credit card number when I pay – I logged in through Online Banking, so why doesn’t it work automatically?

    We want to ensure that it is the owner of the card making the purchase, so for security precautions we ask you to confirm the number. We also like to give you the choice of which Westpac hotpoints credit card you want to use, in case you have more than one.



  • Can I use any credit card for the pay portion?

    No, you can only use a Westpac credit card that is eligible for hotpoints. This means that if you try to use a non-Westpac credit card or a Westpac Low Interest MasterCard for example, a message will be displayed asking you to use an appropriate card instead.

    If you use a Westpac credit card that is eligible for hotpoints membership but is not enrolled, you will not earn any hotpoints or bonus points on the purchase.

    Westpac Debitplus Visa cards are also not accepted for the pay portion.



  • What happens if I used a Westpac credit card that isn’t enrolled in hotpoints?

    If you use a Westpac credit card that is eligible for hotpoints membership but is not enrolled, you will not earn any hotpoints or bonus points on the purchase.

    Please ensure you are using a hotpoints-enrolled credit card when you pay, as we cannot award any hotpoints to your account if you make a mistake and use the wrong card. Please see our Terms and Conditions for more details.



  • How will I recognise purchases I make through Points + Pay on my statement?

    Purchases made through Points + Pay using your Westpac hotpoints credit card will be identified on your statement under the ‘transactions’ heading as “hotpoints online”.



  • How will I recognise bonus hotpoints awarded to me using Points + Pay on my statement?

    Bonus hotpoints will be included in the “hotpoints earned” section on your statement.



  • Why can’t I use Points + Pay on everything in hotpoints?

    Points + Pay is available on items with support from our suppliers. We will endeavour to make as many items as possible available to you using Points + Pay.



    Only Westpac credit cards that are eligible for hotpoints membership can be used for the pay portion. If you use a Westpac credit card that is not enrolled in hotpoints, you will not earn hotpoints on the pay portion. Points + Pay option is available only on selected voucher and merchandise rewards. Selected items will also earn additional bonus hotpoints on the pay portion from time to time. Points + Pay is only available for online redemptions at www.hotpoints.co.nz once you have logged in from Westpac Online Banking. Once a reward or reward voucher has been issued, it cannot be returned and exchanged because you have changed your mind. However, a defective or damaged reward may be replaced or exchanged for another reward of equal value. If you return an item you redeemed through Points + Pay, and it is unable to be replaced or exchanged for another reward of equal value, the hotpoints earned for the original pay portion, including any bonus hotpoints, will be reversed.
